The Effetto Arte Foundation (Fondazione Effetto Arte), in collaboration with one of China’s most influential contemporary art spaces — the Three Shadows Photography Art Centre in Beijing — launched a major international art event: the “Beijing Art Award” (Premio Maestri a Pechino). This award not only provided a global platform for contemporary artists to showcase their talents, but also served as an important catalyst for cultural dialogue and artistic exchange between China and Italy.
As a crossroads of Eastern and Western cultures, Beijing was a city that combined millennia-old heritage with a spirit of modern innovation. It encompassed both the imperial grandeur of the Forbidden City and the avant-garde energy of the Caochangdi Art District, making it fertile ground for the intersection of traditional and contemporary art. The Three Shadows Photography Art Centre, China’s first independent institution devoted to contemporary photography, was founded in 2007 by renowned Chinese and Japanese photographers RongRong and inri, and stood as a model of cross-cultural exchange.
Through the “Beijing Art Award”, Italian and Chinese artists came together on this international stage, not only to share their creative achievements, but also to deepen mutual understanding in artistic vision, concepts, and techniques. The exhibition enhanced the global visibility of the participating artists and injected new vitality and possibilities into the integration of Chinese and Italian artistic cultures.
On June 24, 2025, Chinese artists Chen Jianping, Liu Fengqi, Sun Yue, Li Zheyu, Ren Haochen, Sang Zhuo, Xue Hui, Yu Ji, and Zhang Hui, along with artists from around the world, gathered at the Three Shadows Centre in Beijing for a cross-cultural dialogue organized by the Effetto Arte Foundation. Together, they wrote a new chapter in Sino-Italian artistic cooperation. This grand event was not only a visual celebration, but also a profound cultural exchange, demonstrating the power of art to transcend borders and the ability of communication to overcome all barriers.
